Barbara Faruggio, MS, RN has a depth of knowledge on developing the environment for successfully “Engaging Staff” to an organization. She has consulted extensively in the areas of hospital operations, nursing leadership development, case management, nursing staff education, clinical costing, pathway “revitalization” to clinical practice guidelines, outcomes management and staff retention. Her approach to managing the transitions of change has resulted in significant improvements to the quality of care and the professional work environment. Her clients range from a 10-bed hospital to large systems (4000 acute care beds) with diverse services.
Mrs. Faruggio has served as a VP for Patient Care Services in an integrated delivery care system comprised of over 1000 acute care beds, long term care facilities and a behavioral health freestanding acute care hospital. She also has held the position of product line VP for Geriatrics and Home Health in an integrated system totaling 3,800 acute care beds.
Since the mid eighties, staff recruitment and retention has been one of her major focuses. Her work and consulting experiences coupled with her participation on state and national committees and advisory boards, has resulted in a compilation of creative and results driven strategies that will “Engage and Commit” staff to an organization.
She is a member of the American Organization for Nursing Executives, The National League of Nursing and The American Nurses Association. In addition to her Master’s Degree in Health Care Administration from Iona College in New York, she is also a graduate of the Johnson and Johnson Wharton Fellows Program in Management for Nurse Executives.
